Creatures! Scary Pirate

I made this jaunty fellow for a video game box cover prototype. I did the costuming and painted the backdrop. He is one of my favorite creature creations!

Creatures! Swimmin' Salmon

Here is a Latex Salmon I made for "Jack Pictures" Company for a TV ad. I sculpted the fish in clay, made a mold, then built a frame work inside that mold. I then used two part foam for the "flesh" and latex for the "skin". For filming I was underneath that bluescreen table making the salmon swim back and forth while my assistant used cables to make the mouth and fins move!

Creatures! Orange Alien Tooth Test Fit

I am test fitting the acrylic teeth I made for Mr. Orange Alien. We opted to not use the bottom set.

Creatures! Orange Alien

Here is another rubber alien! This time I am wearing it for the shot. I also did the background "ship" which is in fact a pretty small set. I made the acrylic teeth as well.

Creatures! Talking Animatronic

Here is an articulated skull that I made to have eye movements, lip movements (of the rubber mask over it) and eyebrow movements. The jaw was hinged and had springs and all the movements were controlled by cable.

Creatures! Dancing Skeleton

I made this skeleton for Larry Pisoni aka Lorenzo Pickle, a world famous clown and co-founder of the Pickle Family Circus. He used the prop to dance with and the skeleton was articulated to follow his dance moves.

Creatures!

Here is a creature that I sculpted and cast in rubber. For the ad I also painted the small backdrop and did the costuming (no sewing required!)

Faux Furniture Finish

This is another new pine piece from the prolific scene shop! This is one of my favorite faux finish jobs because I think I really got that wood inlay look. I should have aged the hinges on the lid down a little though. The keyboard came from a sad little broken piano...

Faux Furniture Finishes

Here is another new piece built by the scene shop for a production of "Uncle Vanya". I painted this to have a nice antique Russian folk feel.

Faux Furniture Finishes Fhew!

I did alot of faux furniture finishes when I worked in Theatre, Here I painted a pine "desk" the scene shop had built and painted it to look like brazilian mahogany. One part of the ingredients is roof tar!

Backdrop Painting

A Backdrop I painted for a production of "Funny Girl". The archway got cut out for an entrance door.

Me On A Ladder! #3

Here I am painting a backdrop for a great friends wedding ceremony!

Me On A Ladder! #2

Here I am (I spend alot of time on ladders!) painting a hard cyclorama for Pinnicle Productions. I like these dreamy clouds! Oh and my bleached blonde hair......

Me On A Ladder! #1

The set designer wanted the backdrop flats for this play to look like stock quotes in a newspaper. So I took steel frames and cutout stencils of numbers and letters and had them interchangable so no visual pattern could be seen. Then airbrushed them and gave the whole thing a grayisn newspaper colored wash. The play was "Other People's Money".

"Invincible" the movie Mark Wahlbergs House

I wall papered wood panels in the left of the photo to cover up a beautiful brick wall. The location house we were using in South Philly was so nice but the brick made it a little too modern-hip. I dig that seventies diamond wall paper!

"Life or Something Like It" Signs

We made all the signs behind Angelina Jolie, she is playing a television personality.

"Practicle Magic" Town Scenes

We added the flat fronts to all these buildings in a town in the pacific nothwest to make it more "Martha's Vineyard". Some of the store owners kept the flats some didn't. One day I was spattering paint onto the street to hide the lane dividing white lines and one of the towns people came up and said, "well that's the first time I've ever seen someone spill paint on purpose!"

"Invincible" - the movie Fake Brick Wall

Designers like to add details that break up long flat planes, so she wanted a series of brick walls at angles to the very long real brick wall of the "training camp" school of the Eagles Football Team. I think these painted Vacuform bricks turned out great!!! They really match the schools bricks! The constuction department did a nice job with the wooden round finial too.

Annapolis ( my first boxing movie! )

My favorite set ever! A naval ship set. I did all the welding (made with caulk ) and glued cast resin rivets on everything!

The Ring

We built these creepy cabins for "The Ring"The poor set guys had to work in some serious mud!

The Ring

We got to work on this beautiful horse farm for the movie "The Ring". Talk about fresh air!

Rocky VI Philadelphia Mural

I painted this mural with my co-worker Karen in a very sketchy part of Philadelphia. We did alot of recreations from previous Rocky movies.

"Invincible" Block Wall

The designer realized we hadn't put in cinder blocks in our fake walls to match the real walls at the stadium, so I whipped out my caulk gun and.....

Ellen Rimbauer Poster

Steven King's "Diary of Ellen Rimbauer"

One of my favorite sets on this production.....the creepy attic!

Steven King's "Diary of Ellen Rimbauer"

Old School! Fake bricks, fake cast concrete hallways and a hidden door! Three reasons I got in the business!

"A Guy Thing" Rooftop Set

I had to make the "tar" seams out of hydro-cal cement so the camera dolly wheels wouldn't get real tar on them!

TV Sets

One of my favorite sights in the world! Behind the set!

"The Fugitive" with Tim Daly

One of three wooden crypts we painted and then shipped to Louisiana for filming.
